the things we think but do not say

The first time I saw Jerry Maguire, I felt bad. Well the plot is, when Jerry found his 'heart' and decided to use it in his job, he got fired and only one athlete chose to stay with him.

I got the impression that when you put your heart out in the open, you get fired. But I was a kid then.

I was older enough to understand its meaning the second time I saw the film and often, I'd use it as an example in my Film class back in college. It was simple, though a little 'cheesy' sometimes but overall, I'd consider it a modern classic.

The film introduced me to this line: the things we think but do not say (that was the title of Jerry's memo), which led me to think, could it be possible that the things we think but do not say are actually more important and valuable than those spoken? But that's another story.

We need more of these feel-good films nowadays because personally, I am not a fan of the end-of-the-world themed movies (except for Armageddon). We need a little positive spirit in a world filled by cynics and skeptics.

If I'd have to make a list of my top 10 films, I'll include Jerry Maguire for sure.

And the reason why I wrote this is because iTunes suddenly played 'Secret Garden' by Bruce Springsteen.
