Hong Kong!
See you in about 12 days. Now there's more time to explore the city and eat dim sum.
Waking up at Capella
If this is your view every morning, it'll be so much easier to get up from bed.
Good morning Sentosa!
Maximize your trip to Hong Kong Disneyland
When visiting a theme park, all you want is a chance to do EVERYTHING. And while it is tedious (for someone so unorganized as I am), it is important to plan your trip to Disneyland.
(Note: For thrill seekers, I didn't get to try all of the rides due to my vertigo)
The park opens at 10 in the morning and closes at 8 in the evening (right after the fireworks), so if you only have a day to be at the park, do the following things before visiting:
1. Do research. Because the web is giving us a lot of information, might as well, use it WELL. Check HK Disneyland's site to see a map of the park, the rides and all that you need to know about it. Other than that, read reviews and user experiences, look at photos, watch videos, in short, EVERYTHING. It will help you a lot (specially if you're in a big group).
2. Plan ahead. You can check the park's schedule as well as the shows at this site. That way, you can have a rough schedule on where you should be at any given time. There are shows that runs every 30 minutes all day and there are some that runs just once in a day (like the Parade). When you know which rides and which specific places you want to see, you can plan your day ahead.
3. Pack a lot of patience. Did I say patience? Yes I did. Personally, I hate lines and queues. But in Disneyland, you rarely have a choice. Aside from rides and shows, lining up for pictures with Disney characters take quite a bit especially for Mickey and Minnie Mouse (maybe because they're the main stars?). Anyway, just be patient. And don't lose control when you see them leaving, just wait for a few minutes and they're back (they just probably needed to breathe.)
WHILE there
4. Pack light. Don't bring unnecessary stuff. You'll probably be running around chasing characters so better have a compact bag.
5. Prep your finances. It is indeed expensive inside and nothing comes cheap. Buy only what you need. For dining, most of the servings are big enough for two. So before ordering, check the serving if it's more than enough for you and your companions so there won't be left overs after.) There's a wide variety of food choices inside, just pick up a guide map by the gates to know where they are.
6. Always try to get the nice spot. This applies to the parade and the fireworks. You'll know the parade's about to begin when people gather in the main street, starting from Sleeping Beauty's castle down to the town hall. When you see this, stop whatever you're doing and get a spot. There's going to be a rope (like the yellow police line thing) so just be mindful of that. For the differently-able, there's a special spot for you so just look for that and the cast members will assist you.
7. Charge your batteries and empty your memory cards. Believe me you'll be taking a lot of pictures. Just be careful when taking pictures during shows as they prohibit flash photography.
8. And lastly, don't be afraid to feel like a KID again. It's normal. I see grandparents excited to meet Mickey and Minnie with their grandkids and that's just absolutely cool. That's Disney's magic I guess, you can afford to be like any normal child when you're there.
Hope this helps
